TEHRAN(Bazaar) – U.S. columnist Stephen Lendman says “Sadly, the JCPOA is dead. The Biden regime never had any intention of returning to compliance.”
“The US has a nasty habit of falsely blaming other nations for its own wrongdoing,” Lendman tells the Bazaar.
The following is the text that Stephen Lendman.
Q: Can we hope for the end of the war in Ukraine in 2023?
A: No one can be sure, but I think Russia will accomplish its demilitarization and denazification of Ukraine in the new year. The regime already endured hundreds of thousands of casualties for a lost cause, Russia sustaining minimal losses.
Q: One of the most important issues in the changing world order is the containment of China by America. Is it possible that the tensions between these two countries will enter an intense phase in 2023? For example, in the issue of Taiwan, will the conflicts enter a more serious phase?
A: Taiwan is to China as Ukraine is to Russia. The US increasingly is using what Beijing considers a breakaway province to confront China militarily. It risks something similar to US war on Russia by use of expendable Ukrainian foot soldiers. China is the only nation able to overtake the US as the world’s leading nation politically, economically, financially and militarily. So, Washington considers Beijing its main rival for global dominance. It risks another devastating East Asia war — if occurs to be launched preemptively by the US.
Q: What is the prediction for the global economy in 2023? Will we see the end of the Covid 19 and the growth of the global economy?
A: The global economy, especially throughout the West, is declining and in trouble. There’s significant risk of a major economic crisis in the new year to be deep and protracted, perhaps as bad or worse than the 1930s Great Depression. Growing numbers of people reject draconian conditions related to covid. So, US/Western nations will likely come up with new scare tactics. They tried and failed with monkeypox. So, they’ll try again with something different.
Q: What is your prediction of the future of nuclear negotiations with Iran known as JCPOA? Will we see the revival of the JCPOA in 2023?
A: Sadly, the JCPOA is dead. The Biden regime never had any intention of returning to compliance. The US has a nasty habit of falsely blaming other nations for its own wrongdoing. So, the Biden regime falsely blames Iran for noncompliance. Obama breached the JCPOA before Trump abandoned it in 2018. It’s further proof that the US can never be trusted. Nothing it says should be taken at face value. I’m sure Iranian leadership understands this.
Q: In your opinion, what political or economic developments may occur in 2023 that will affect the world?
A: The greatest threat ahead is another world war. Most likely by the US against Russia, it would risk destruction of planet earth and all its life forms if occurs.
